Map of Monmouth County

Description:
Monmouth County has 27 miles of beaches along the Atlantic Ocean. The borough of Freehold, the county seat, is situated close to the heart of the county and is an historic town, closely associated with the Battle of Monmouth, a key victory for George Washington's troops in 1778. The shore towns, with their sandy beaches and a host of recreational activities, are destinations of choice for many weekend travelers and vacationers. Monmouth University in Long Branch and Brookdale Community College in the Lincroft section of Middletown offer educational choices. Entertainment venues include the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel and the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank. The county's transportation network focuses on the North Jersey Coast Line, the Garden State Parkway and Route 9.
