James F. Lacey

Second Vice Chairman - Freeholder, Ocean County

Freeholder Lacey has served on the Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders since 1993. He joined the NJTPA Board of Trustees in 2003 and was elected to the NJTPA Executive Committee in 2012. He currently serves as Second Vice Chairman. He is also Vice-Chairman of the Project Prioritization Committee.

Freeholder Lacey serves as Chairman of Transportation for the County. He works closely with the bridge and road department in maintaining the more than 620 miles of roads in Ocean County and the 220 bridges and culverts. Freeholder Lacey has been a staunch supporter of the Barnegat Branch Trail, a 15.6-mile linear park stretching from Barnegat to Toms River Township.

Freeholder Lacey began his career in public service in the early 1980s as a member of the Point Pleasant Beach Borough Council, where he was twice chosen as council president. He was an active member of the Point Pleasant Beach Fire Company No. 2, served as its president and was awarded life membership after 22 years of service.

Freeholder Lacey is a graduate of Ocean County College and Monmouth University and resides with his family in Brick Township.
