Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo was elected to office in 2002, when he was also appointed to the NJTPA Board of Trustees. County Executvie DiVincenzo was elected as a member of the Board's Executive Committee in 2010 and currently serves as Third Vice Chairman. In addition, the County Executive is Vice-Chairman of the Planning & Economic Development Committee and is a member of the Project Prioritization Committee.
Previously, County Executive DiVincenzo served on the Essex County Freeholder Board, to which he was appointed in 1990. Mr. DiVincenzo successfully ran for the at-large seat that year, and was then re-elected to three successive terms. He served as Essex County Freeholder President since 1995.
County Executive DiVincenzo also has worked as the athletics director of the Newark Public Schools and a volunteer recreation director for Project Pride. He is the past President of the New Jersey Association of Counties and was honored in 2001 by the New Jersey Conference of Mayors as its “Outstanding Elected County Official.”
