On November 8, 2010, the NJTPA Board unanimously approved a new Strategic Business Plan for the NJTPA. The plan includes recommendations for improving the agency’s effectiveness and will guide the development of its annual work program. Links to an Executive Summary and the full Plan are at right
The plan outlines key goals and a specific agenda of actions for five broad strategic areas: Board development, facilitating growth, communications, improving internal operations and developing performance measures.
Susan Zellman, NJTPA Board Member and Sussex County Freeholder, at the November 8 Board meeting thanked members of the steering committee that oversaw development of the plan, noting that they "sifted through many options and approaches and brought the Business Plan to a successful conclusion." In addition to Freeholder Zellman, members of the steering committee included: Bergen County Executive Denis McNerney , Morris County Freeholder Gene Feyl, Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise, Hunterdon County Freeholder Matt Holt, Essex County Executive Joe DiVencenzo and Somerset County Freeholder Peter Palmer. Avant Inc. served as consultants for the project.
NJTPA Executive Director Mary K. Murphy noted that the most visible element of the plan is a new agency logo (below) and tagline: “Defining the Vision. Shaping the Future.” The NJTPA has begun integrating the logo and its color scheme into its website, publications and official agency documents. In connection with the new Business Plan, the NJTPA has launched Facebook and Twitter pages.
The plan was created through a highly interactive process with the goal of helping the NJTPA serve its critical constituencies: counties and municipalities, businesses and employees, transportation providers, and, most importantly, the residents and traveling public of the northern New Jersey region.
